Installation and Conversion

Evaluating Your Existing Database - We provide professional services to assist you in converting your existing database to your new eCaliper system.
We will conduct an audit of your existing estimating database, mapping the conversion of your data to eCaliper.
Typically, we can electronically transfer your data to the appropriate data fields in eCaliper. Rarely, we run across data that does not map suitably. If this occurs, it is typically with assemblies. In that unlikely event, we will recommend alternative approaches to your database implementation to keep the project on schedule from a deployment standpoint.

Conversion Planning - A successful implementation is directly related to the quality of the plan underlying the process.
We take the success of your successful implementation very seriously. To begin with, not only do we evaluate your existing database, we create a plan to convert your database effectively.
The process includes conversion of data for staff training as well as conversion activity to coincide with going live on the eCaliper System.

Installing eCaliper - It is relatively straightforward to install eCaliper.
Each user receives a CD with all the programs necessary to operate eCaliper along with a User Manual to set up the system.
We also have on-line, context-sensitive help.
For network installations, we typically access the user's system remotely to assist the installation process.
Our goal is a failsafe system installation with minimal impact on your daily operations.

eCaliper System Requirements - In a single user mode, all the eCaliper user requires is a reasonably modern Windows PC, running Windows 95 or greater with at least 64 MB of RAM and 100+ MB of hard disk space available. If you incorporate a digitizer, you will also need a serial port on each PC to which a digitizer is attached.
In a multi-user mode, you will need a Windows NT Server running client/server. Or in a peer-to-peer network of PCs, you will need Windows NT or Windows 98 (or better) on each PC.
For support purposes, we ask all users to have a modem or broadband web access on their PC so that we can support the system remotely if necessary.
